The American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS) is pleased to announce our Call for Papers for the 57th Annual Meeting, to be held April 1 – 3, 2027 in Portland, Oregon.
The Society, established in 1969, is the foremost learned society in the United States for the study of all aspects of the long eighteenth century, the period from the later seventeenth through the early nineteenth century.

Conference Rate
ASECS has negotiated the following discounted hotel rates per night:
$179 single/double
Rates do not include the hotel occupancy tax rate of 13%, and the TID (Tourism Improvement District) fee is 3%
The contracted rate is good until either the room block sells out or until March 1, 2027. Availability and rate cannot be guaranteed once the room block is sold out or after this date.

Check-in/Check-out
Check-in is 4:00pm and Check-out is 12:00pm. Early check-in requests will be based on hotel availability. Late check-outs are not available. Luggage storage is available at the bell stand.

Travel
Airport Information
- The Portland International Airport (PDX) is located 10 miles from the hotel. Options for transfers from the airport to the hotel are listed below.
- Taxi – Approximately $35.00 – $55.00 one way.
- Uber/Lyft – Approximately $30.00 – $45.00 based on the time of day.
- MAX Light Rail system is $2.80 one way. The Pioneer Square South MAX Station is only about a one-block walk from the Hilton.
Parking
- There is no self-parking option at the hotel. There are available lots within walking distance of the hotel. Rates vary based on length and day of the week.
- Valet Overnight Parking is $59 per night.
Support ASECS
ASECS has contracted with the Portland Hilton Downtown for the 2027 Annual Meeting. The leadership would like to stress the importance of making your reservation within the official contracted ASECS’ hotel block. ASECS receives concessions as part of the hotel contract by committing to a certain number of hotel room nights. These concessions allow ASECS the ability to offer lower registration rates and keep the conference registration fees affordable. ASECS encourages all participants to register for the meeting and reserve a room within the official room block. In doing so, you are not only supporting the 2027 Annual Meeting but also the overall financial stability of the ASECS organization.
