Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History Estelle Freedman Award
The Estelle Freedman Award [clgbthistory.org] is a research travel award given out by the CLGBTH for scholars applying feminist analysis to LBGTQ history, from any historical time period or region. The award is named in honor of Estelle Freedman, a pathbreaking historian in US women’s history and feminist studies. Professor Freedman taught at Stanford since 1976, where she cofounded the Program in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her prolific scholarship includes prison reform, lesbian history, and the politics of sexuality.
Applications for the research travel award should be sent as one PDF file via email by 11:59pm (Pacific time), November 1, 2023 to all members of the award committee. Questions can be addressed to award committee chair, Annelise Heinz.
